The Cattle Crew was out in full force today and on a very important mission: selecting our next school heifer!
After a serious scouting session in the heifer pen, the kids made their executive decision. It was love at first sight with a flashy white heifer, so Number 15 is officially joining the squad!
Once the choice was made, it was straight to work. We walked the herd to the barn for some "spa day" maintenance and a wardrobe change (new tags!). Our crew ran a tight ship, keeping the chute moving smoothly with everyone playing a vital role:
The Chute Bosses: Keeping the girls moving calm and steady.
The "De-Taggers": Snipping out the old ID tags.
The Scouts: Reading the incoming tags so we were always one step ahead.
The Clerks: Recording those fresh new numbers for Michael’s Mom.
The Prep Team: Keeping the new tags ready to go at a moment's notice.
Nothing beats hands-on learning and a little dirt under the fingernails.
