The Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) and the Government of Alberta have announced they will resume bargaining on October 14th.
Please note that the strike remains in effect, and all Grasslands schools are temporarily closed until further notice. There will be no in-person or online classes, and no supervision or extracurricular activities at this time.
We remain hopeful that both parties will soon reach an agreement.

This year, students were initially challenged to raise $1,362—just one dollar more than last year’s total. That alone would have been a remarkable accomplishment for our small but mighty community. The original deal was that if they surpassed last year’s goal, students would get to tar and feather Mr. Flieger. But then, thanks to a creative student request, the challenge grew: if they raised even more, Mr. Flieger would also shave his head. That extra incentive seemed to spark a wave of excitement!
And once again, Rolling Hills came through. Inspired by Terry Fox’s dream of supporting cancer research, and fueled by the promise of a little schoolhouse fun, our students—and our generous community—raised an astounding $3,202.55!
This achievement is far more than a dollar figure. It is a powerful reminder of the compassion and determination of our students, families, and neighbours. Together, we honour Terry Fox’s enduring legacy and contribute to life-saving cancer research.
Now, it’s time to celebrate. Mr. Flieger will be honouring his commitment this Thursday, October 2 at 12:30 p.m. The community is warmly invited to join us.
Thank you once again to everyone who supported this cause. Your generosity and spirit make a difference, year after year.

Here's what we have on the go!
Tuesday, September 30 - Picture Day (starting at 8:30) and deadline for Terry Fox Donations. Sept 30 is also orange shirt day in honor of Truth and Reconciliation Day - students are welcome to change into an orange shirt after pictures, if desired.

Thursday, October 2 - Welcome back breakfast - parents, siblings and friends of Rolling Hills School are welcome (8:30-9:30), Egg Drop (10:00), FREE pizza hot lunch for current RHS students, Mr. Flieger's Terry Fox Stunts and Terry Fox Run/Walk (tentatively starting at 1:00 - the run/walk portion may be moved to the morning if we have time between breakfast and the Egg Drop). Student assembly to follow starting at 2:00.
Friday, October 3 - Grade 3-9 will head to the Brooks Corn Maze by bus. Departure time is 8:45, and return time will be approx 11:30. PLEASE WATCH FOR PERMISSION SLIPS TO COME HOME TODAY WITH YOUR GRADE 3-9 STUDENT. FORMS ARE DUE ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 2.
